A Little Bit About Us

Lone Star Quilt Emporium was once the home place of a
prominent family in Madisonville.  This house was built in 1913 by Tom Viser who was Vice
President of what is now Wells Fargo Bank.  The property remained the Viser home place until
his death in 1968. Their youngest daughter, Mary Louise, sold the house.  Due to unfortunate circumstances the house was abandoned. Before Mary could settle the business of the house, God
called her home. Mary Louise graduated from this life on December  24, 1998.

(BEFORE)

The house stood empty and abandoned. Weather and the elements took its toll on this grand lady.
A tree tore a hole in the roof and the front room was almost completely gone. I watched the
house from across the back fence and often wondered what would  become of her. I mentioned the
house to my insurance agent. He told me that it would be perfect for my cake business.
It impressed me. I had never thought of it. After much prayer for God’s direction and searching
for the heir to Mary Louise’s estate, I found her daughter,  in Tomball, Texas. Her name is Judy
Armstrong.  She did not know the house still existed.  I told her of my search and how God had
led me to her. She agreed to sell the house to me.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be a home owner, but God did. The house went
into foreclosure. God answers prayer, all prayers, but in His own time. We started praying for Deed
In Lieu of Foreclosure. The house was due to go on the auction block August 1, 2006. On July 31st
at 2:00 in the afternoon we received a signed Deed In Lieu of Foreclosure from the previous owner.
It was taken off the auction block and I bought the house on August 1, 2006. God is so good!

(AFTER)

After much work from family and friends a quilt shop and cake business were born.

We opened November 3rd, 2006

The greatest of Gods commands says,” Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
It is my prayer that everyone who visits this place will see God here; by the way they are treated
and by the smiles on the faces of the employees.

May God Bless
